The Folger Theatre presented their production of Romeo and Juliet from November 14 to December 14, 1997. Janet Alexander Griffin was the Director of Museum and Public Programs at the Folger and Garland Scott was the Associate Producer. Joe Banno, the production's director, Holly Twyford, in the role of Juliet, and Scott Burgess, the production's sound designer, won Helen Hayes Awards for "Outstanding Director, Residential Play," "Outstanding Lead Actress, Residential Play," and "Outstanding Sound Design, Residential Production," respectively. The production was also nominated for "Outstanding Residential Play."
