Field 544 in the bibliographic and holdings formats contains the name and address of custodians of archival materials related to the described materials by provenance, specifically by having been, at a previous time, a part of the same collection or record group. The Folger uses field 544 to record the existence of related material held by the Folger Shakespeare Library and/or other repositories. This field is repeatable.<br/>

==Policy and formulation==
Folger catalogers use ǂn for the entire text of the Location of Other Archival Materials Note (per MARC 21 "Subfield $n may be used ''instead'' of the specific subfields for title of materials, custodian, and provenance.") This is because we want the note to easily be eye-readable, and because there is no controlled vocabulary for the subfield contents anyway (so the effort to make each element machine-actionable is moot).

Phrase the note so that it will make sense both with and without a specific label.
