Women in the World: Melissa Bank & Terry McMillan (2006)

This event occured on April 28, 2006 at 8:00 pm in the Folger's Elizabethan Theatre. Readings and reflection from two of the country’s most popular women writers.

Melissa Bank is the author of the best selling short fiction collection The Girls’ Guide to Hunting and Fishing. Her new novel, The Wonder Spot, was published in May 2005. Winner of the Nelson Algren Award for short fiction, her work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Zoetrope, Cosmopolitan, and The Chicago Tribune.

Terry McMillan’s current novel is The Interruption of Everything. Her other novels include the national bestseller Waiting to Exhale, A Day Late and a Dollar Short, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Disappearing Acts, and Mama, for which she was awarded a National Book Award by the Before Columbus Foundation. Terry McMillan currently serves on the PEN/Faulkner Writers in Schools National Advisory Council.
