Not Just Another Day Off: A Dream Deferred (2016)
On January 18, 2016 at 11:00am, the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series celebrated the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a combined program of dramatic readings of speeches and poetry in the The Haskell Center for Education and Public Programs. The event featured actor and poet David Mills, who performed excerpts from the speeches of Dr. King, weaving in poems by Langston Hughes and jazz poet Gil Scott-Heron. A Yale cum laude graduate, Mills is the author of the book of poems The Dream Detective and has produced a celebrated one-man show on the life of Langston Hughes.
The Folger also collected donations of non-perishable food items for a local Capitol Hill food pantry at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation.
