Gloria! A Baroque Italian Christmas (2019)
Folger Consort performed "Gloria! A Baroque Italian Christmas" on December 13th to December 18th 2019 at St Marks on Capitol Hill.
Folger Consort journeyed to Venice for the holidays with Vivaldi's beloved Gloria in D, RV589. Other seasonal music from the Italian High Baroque included Alessandro Scarlatti's Christmas Cantata ("O di Betlemme altera, povertà venturosa") and Corelli's magnificent Christmas Concerto. With string orchestra, oboe, trumpet, women's chorus, and vocal soloists.
