Folger Consort performed When Notre Dame was New on January 7 and January 8, 2005 at the Washington National Cathedral. For the program, the Consort joined forces with the famed Norwegian vocal ensemble Trio Mediaeval to celebrate the Parisian avant-garde that flourished when High Gothic cathedrals were new and when the principles of Western music were being established by composers such as Leonin and Perotin. The great organa, conducti, and motets of the Notre Dame School were at the heart of the program, along with instrumental dances from the period.

Trio Mediaeval, vocal ensemble.
