The Flowering of Song was performed in the Elizabethan Theatre from October 17-19, 1987. Various lyric songs were performed as part of this show, including The Song of the Flood, Kalenda Maia, and Lai Markiol. Lyric poetry in the vernacular languages of Europe began with the Troubadours of Southern France, creating new musical forms and structures which influenced genres like the romance and the structures.
