The Elizabethan Muse: William Shakespeare, William Byrd, and John Dowland (2007)

Performed in the English Gothic nave of the Washington National Cathedral, the Folger Consort's The Elizabethan Muse: William Shakespeare, William Byrd, and John Dowland celebrated masterpieces by two of Shakespeare's greatest musical contemporaries. Soaring to match the vaulted reaches of the cathedral, William Byrd's magnificent motests for voices were balanced by the intimate intensity of John Dowland's "Passionate Pavans" for string band and lute. The Folger Consort performed The Elizabethan Muse from January 5 to January 6, 2007.
