Help others jumpstart their research by contributing information about an exhibition at the Folger. Title your article with the name of the exhibtion, (eg. Shakespeare's the Thing, Very Like a Whale, Shakespeare in American Life). All exhibitions should be listed on the [[Exhibitions at the Folger]] page and are listed in sequential order. If you are creating the page name on the Exhibitions page mark it as <nowiki>[[Name of exhibition|''Name of exhibition'']] (date)</nowiki> so that the article title is shown in italics but will remain without them for the actual page.

This is one of a series of articles which describes a template that will allow for consistent and easy article creation on Folgerpedia.

This template is for creating pages related to Folger Exhibitions. Title your article with the name of the exhibition, (eg. Shakespeare's the Thing, Very Like a Whale, Shakespeare in American Life). All exhibitions should be listed on the Exhibitions at the Folger page and are listed in sequential order. If you are creating the page name on the Exhibitions page mark it as [[Name of exhibition|''Name of exhibition'']] (date) so that the article title is shown in italics but will remain without them for the actual page.

Click the "piece of paper" symbol in the upper right corner of your page and select "Edit Source." In this editing mode, copy the code below the between the two (<hr/>) mark ups into the "creating" page to get a head-start on creating your article. See Folgerpedia Manual of Style for more style guide information.

An explanation of what goes in each section is in parentheses. You may not need all the sections listed below, they are simply suggestions. Addition exhibition information can be found in exhibitions format notes and the Template for exhibition material lists articles. Two categories: Exhibitions and Public programs are necessary for all exhibition articles, but other designators can be used as applicable.

Don't forget to remove the "template" category and any other extraneous elements from your finished article!

You can save a DRAFT of your article by putting {{draft}} as the first word in the article.

Examples:[1]

Template

Begin the exhibition article with: Name of exhibition, one of the Exhibitions at the Folger opened on (date) and closed on (date). You can also add information about curator and catalog subsections for these will not be shown later.

Include a brief desription of the exhibition.

Special Notes on the Template

  1. Occasionally, an exhibition will follow its own unique format and may require following a different format. In these cases, use A Book Behind Bars: The Robben Island Shakespeare and The Curatorial Eye: Discoveries from the Folger Vault as guides.
  2. 2.0 2.1 Scholars' insights may be placed on the main exhibition page or on a separate page depending on the quantity of content. Links to cases discussed and other helpful elements are encouraged. See Manifold Greatness exhibition.
  3. 3.0 3.1 3.2 Depending on the amount of exhibition material, placement of certain elements can vary. For example, if all Exhibition Materials are on the main page, then the Children's Exhibition and Image Gallery would move to Supplemental Materials. See Vivat Rex! exhibition.
  4. 4.0 4.1 Exhibition material may be place on the main exhibition page or on a separate page depending on the quantity of content. Either way, please see the Template for exhibition material lists articles for format and consistency information.
  5. Children's exhibition pages should take content from the website and break it into natural headings and subheadings. Any .pdfs should be uploaded and included as well. For reference, see Golden Lads & Lasses: Shakespeare for Children children's exhibition, Discoveries from the Vault children's exhibition, Arms and Armor in Shakespeare children's exhibition or search "children's exhibition" to see others.
