The Folger Theatre co-produced Standup Shakespeare with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival from November 7 to 19, 1995. Janet Alexander Griffin was the Folger Director of Museum and Public Programs. Jeff Hairston, the male vocalist, and Jack Bashkow, the Music Director, were nominated for Helen Hayes Awards for "Outstadning Lead Actor, Resident Musical" and "Outstanding Musical Director, Resident Musical," respectively.
