The Shakespeare Quartos Archive is a digital collection of pre-1642 editions of William Shakespeare's plays created in 2009 through a cross-Atlantic collaboration funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) in the USA and the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) in the UK. For additional information about the project, see the NEH Final Performance Report.

Images from the Shakespeare Quartos Archive are divided into to groups:

  • 32 sets of digital images of Hamlet with full transcriptions in the prototype Shakespeare Quartos Archive interface (funding only permitted creation of the Hamlet prototype). This site is no longer maintained, and could disappear without notice.
  • 107 sets of digital images of quartos in the British Library's Shakespeare in Quarto companion site (14 quarto editions not in the British Library collection were added to the pre-existing site thanks to Shakespeare Quartos Archive funding, ensuring that at least one copy of every quarto edition was available through the site).

Further development of the Shakespeare Quartos Archive in its current form is not expected.
