The screening RSC Live from Stratford-upon-Avon: Richard II (2013) on December 2, 2013 in the Folger's Elizabethan Theatre, was a special preview screening of the first ever live cinema broadcast from the stage of the RSC, captured from Shakespeare's hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon. Directed by RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran and starring David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch) in the title role. The production opened at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon in October and was captured live during the November 13 performance. The Guardian called Richard II "A beautifully crafted, richly detailed production." Live from Stratford-upon-Avon is generously supported by the Sidney E. Frank Foundation.
