The poetry of Peter Sacks traces the landscapes and spiritual journeys that accompanied him from his childhood in South Africa to his “Pilgrim’s Progress” in North America. He writes of his most recent work Necessity, “the poems make and record an unavoidable but potentially self-clarifying quest in the face of injustice, atrocity, beauty.” A professor at Harvard, Sacks’s collections of poetry include PromisedLands and Old Wheel.
