Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech at the March on Washington. Library of Congress.

On January 16, 2012 at 11:00am, the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series celebrated the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a combined program of dramatic readings of speeches, poetry, and an open-mic session in the The Haskell Center for Education and Public Programs. The event featured poets Dan Vera and Joseph Ross, and actors Adrienne Nelson, Frank Britton, and Alexandra Linn.

The Folger also collected donations of non-perishable food items for a local Capitol Hill food pantry at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation.
