Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech at the March on Washington. Library of Congress.

On January 19, 2009 at 10:00am, the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series celebrated the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a combined program of dramatic readings of speeches, poetry, and an open-mic session in the The Haskell Center for Education and Public Programs. The event featured poets Kyle Dargan and Bettina Judd, and actors Jorge Watson and David Lockhart.

The Folger also collected donations of non-perishable food items for local Capitol Hill food pantries, The Lutheran Church of the Reformation and St. Augustine's Episcopal Church.
