Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech at the March on Washington. Library of Congress.

On January 21, 2008 at 2:00pm, the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series honored the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by recognizing women from the Civil Rights movement with a combined program of dramatic readings of speeches, poetry, and an open-mic session. The event was held at the The Haskell Center for Education and Public Programs. The Folger also collected donations of unopened toiletries for distribution to homeless shelters as a part of "A Fresh Start for 2008".
