On January 21, 2008 at 2:00pm, the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series celebrated the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a combined program of dramatic readings of speeches and poetry. The event was held at the The Haskell Center for Education and Public Programs. The Folger also collected donations of unopened toilitries for distribution to homeless shelters as a part of "A Fresh Start for 2008".
