On January 16, 2017 at 11:00am, the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series celebrated the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a combined program of dramatic readings of speeches and poetry in the The Haskell Center for Education and Public Programs. The event featured poets Abdul Ali, Kim Roberts, and Maritza Rivera, and actors Sara Barker, James Johnson, Fatima Quander, and Lilian Oben.

The Folger also collected donations of non-perishable food items for a local Capitol Hill food pantry at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation.
