The Folger Consort's performances of Mosaic: Medieval Song from Spain and Syprus exemplified that the Folger Shakespeare Library's program of medieval song includes music that reflects Islamic, Jewish, and Christian traditions. Selections from the famous 13th century Spanish work Cantigas de Santa Maria are paired with songs from 14th-century French-ruled Cyprus and instrumental works for fiddles, citoles, harp, winds, and bagpipes. The Folger Consort performed Mosaic from March 13 to March 15, 2009.
