Mary P. Massey donated her fine collection of over 300 herbals to the Folger Shakespeare Libary in 1994. A few years earlier, the Folger highlighted many of her books in the exhibitionThe Grete Herball: Books from the Collection of Mary P. Massey (1988–1989).

Notable items now at the Folger

Full citations with links to Luna or Hamnet for exceptional items from the former owner's collection now at the Folger.

Massey's bookplates

Images of the former owner's bookplates or book stamps, with brief citations in the image caption.

Signatures and manuscript marks

Images of the former owner's signature or distinctive manuscript marks (e.g. a well-known manicule) should go here, along with citation of the book they are found in, with page number if at all possible.

Other methods of indicating provenance

Call numbers that begin "245-" or that begin "INC" and end with "Massey" are from the Massey collection. Books from the Massey collection with "STC" call numbers or in the Open Stacks cannot be identified by call number.
