Mary Kerr has read for the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series on two occasions: December 12, 1997, for the Emily Dickinson Birthday Tribute, and March 21, 2011.

Mary Karr reads in the Folger Poetry series on December 7, 1997.

Karr says that her second collection of poems The Devil’s Tour is “about standing in the dark, about trying to memorize the bad news. The tour is a tour of the skull. I am thinking of Satan in Paradise Lost: ‘The mind is its own place and it can make a hell of heav’n or a heav’n of hell.’” Karr is the author of the best-selling East Texas memoir The Liar’s Club, and her most recent collection of poetry is Viper Rum.
