Policy and formulation
- Use both the modern form of the placename and an earlier form of the place name during the person's lifetime, if different:
ǂc Italy ǂc Venice (Republic : to 1797)
- Give place of residence in ǂe and country in ǂc even if the country is already named in the ǂe, for example: ǂc France ǂe Paris (France).
- Include both Great Britain and England (or Scotland or Wales) in ǂc. Do not include states, provinces, or territories of the US, Canada, or Australia in ǂc.
- Neighborhoods may be used in places such as ǂe, but use the larger city as well (for example: ǂe Harrow (London, England) ǂe London (England)).
