* Emma Abbott - (December 9, 1850 - January 5, 1891) Born Emma Abbott in Chicago, Illinois, she became an operatic soprano. She traveled to Europe and appeared in productions in Paris and was awarded a contract with the Royal Opera in London and debuted at Covent Garden. Emma returned to America and founded the Abbott  English Opera Company with her husband Eugene Wetherell, gaining a successful reputation. Abbot sang in the company as Juliette in Charles Gounod's Romeo et Juliette (1867). Abbott continued to perform until her death from pneumonia in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1891.
