Folger Consort performed It Fell Upon a Holly Eve December 11 and 12, 1987. This program spanned 700 years of Christmas and Advent music from 11th-century Southern France to late-18th-century England. A great variety of musical styles were represented, learned and rustic, complex and engagingly simple. Yet all of these pieces told a Christmas story.
