The O.B. Hardison Poetry Series, co-sponsored with The Phillips Collection, presented Creating Human Equations at The Phillips Collection: Rae Armantrout at the Phillips Auditorium on February 19, 2015, at 6:30 pm. In collaboration with The Phillips Collection and its former exhibit Man Ray—Human Equations (on view from February 7 – May 10, 2015), Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Rae Armantrout read from her work. Just as the artist’s featured photographs distorted their mathematical models, Armantrout’s verse plays with how seemingly everyday language could, in her own words, “provoke a sort of vertigo effect as element after element begins to spin wildly toward more radical...possibilities.”
