View source for Human Equations at The Phillips Collection: Rae Armantrout (2015)

The [[O.B. Hardison Poetry Series]], co-sponsored with The Phillips Collection, presented ''Creating Human Equations at The Phillips Collection: Rae Armantrout'' at the Phillips Auditorium on February 19, 2015, at 6:30 pm. In collaboration with The Phillips Collection and its former exhibit Man Ray—Human Equations (on view from February 7 – May 10, 2015), Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Rae Armantrout read from her work. Just as the artist’s featured photographs distorted their mathematical models, Armantrout’s verse plays with how seemingly everyday language could, in her own words, “provoke a sort of vertigo effect as element after element begins to spin wildly toward more radical...possibilities.”

In 2009 she received the National Books Critics Circle Award. Armantrout has also published a short memoir, ''True'', and her ''Collected Prose'' was published in 2007. She is a professor emerita at University of California, San Diego, where she taught for more than 20 years and was the longtime director of the New Writing Series.
