Delightful French and Italian cantatas tell tales from ancient myths about the desires, foilbles, and supernatural powers of gods and demi-gods. The Folger Consort's performance of Groves of Antiquity: Ancient Myths in Baroque Guisewhich featured Baroque instrumental music for transverse flute, violin, viola da gamba, theorbo, and harpsichord, transported listeners to Arcadian splendor with works by Vivaldi, Monteclair, Leclair, and Rameau. The Folger Consort performed Groves of Antiquity from October 5 to October 7, 2007.
