Elizabeth Spires has read for the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series on numerous occasions: April 2, 1985, December 6, 1999 for the Emily Dickinson Birthday Tribute, and December 8, 2008.

Elizabeth Spires reads in the Folger Poetry series, 1999.

If Emily Dickinson still floats around us, it is assuredly so that Elizabeth Spires touches her spirit and brings it to us mortals. Spires’s fourth collection Worldling was described in The Washington Post as “lucidly and nakedly…convey[ing] universal feelings.” She is able to bring the most meaningful human experiences, including childbirth and parenthood, to bright light. Spires holds a Chair for Distinguished Achievement at Goucher College. Her work Now the Green Blade Rises was published in 2002.
