David St. John has read for the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series on two occasions: December 4, 1979, and October 29, 2001.

In a poem by David St. John, a mysterious “she” passes along the street and leaves the night air around her “tense, trembling with clarity.” Lush, charged—St. John’s poems have been compared with the films of Godard and the poetry of the young T.S. Eliot. He is the author of six books of poetry, including Prism (Arctos Press, 2002), Study for the World's Body: New and Selected Poems (1994), No Heaven (1985), and Hush (1976).
