Folger Consort performed Courting Elizabeth: Music and Patronage in Shakespeare's England from September 26 to September 28, 2014. In this program, Folger Consort performed dances by lutenist John Dowland, along with consort songs and lute ayres of Shakespeare's time, and lyra viol pieces by Tobias Hume. The Consort performed Courting Elizabeth with viols and lute, accompanying tenor James Taylor and viol consort Arcadia Viols.
