'''Debra Magpie Earling’s''' first novel, ''Perma Red'', won the 2003 American Book Award, the WILLA Award, the Spur Award, and the Mountains and Plains Bestsellers Association Award.  A member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana, she has published fiction and essays in numerous anthologies and journals.

'''N. Scott Momaday''' is a poet, novelist, playwright, storyteller, and artist.  He is a Kiowa and a member of the renowned Kiowa Gourd Dance Society.  He received the Pulitzer Prize for his first novel, ''House Made of Dawn'', and is the author of ''Circle of Wonder'', ''In a Bear’s House'', ''The Man Made of Words'', and ''In The Presence of the Sun'', among other titles.  Recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, N. Scott Momaday is also a founding Trustee of the National Museum of the American Indian.
