Charles Wright

Charles Wright has read for the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series on several occasions: February 5, 1980, December 9, 1991 for the Emily Dickinson Birthday Tribute, and November 13, 1997.

Edward Hirsch writes that Wright “has created a poetics of luminous moments… [that] mark and isolate the self, transporting it to another realm, weakening its boundaries.” A distinguished poet, Wright won the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Black Zodiac and the National Book Award for his 1983 collection Country Music: Selected Early Poems. His most recent collection is Buffalo Yoga.
