Open a new Google sheet.

Highlight all cells and set the border color to white.

Set the height of rows 1 and 3 and the width of column A to be very small; these are used for spacing rather than for content.

Merge columns B-D in row 2. Place basic information about the manuscript and instructions for the transcribathon in this cell:

1-2-3-4 Instructions: 1) Sign in to your account at FromThePage. If you don't have an account, click the "Sign Up Now" button here to get one. 2) Write your name and the email you used to sign up for FromThePage in the Transcriber column next to the page you'd like to transcribe. 3) Click on the image link in the Page Link column to take you directly to your transcription. 4) Change the Status to "In progress" once you've started, and "Complete" once you're finished. Instructions: Write your name and the email you used to sign up for FromThePage in the Reviewer columns next to the page you'd like to review the transcription for. The link in the Page Link column will take you directly to the transcription. Change the Status to "In progress" once you've started, and "Complete" once you're finished. 1st reviewers should not begin their work until the transcriber has marked their work as complete, and 2nd reviewers should not begin their work until the 1st reviewer has marked their work as complete.

You can use the Notes box at the bottom of the transcription page to ask questions. Folger staff and EMROC will be monitoring the notes, and will respond as soon as possible.
