Brendan Galvin read for the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series on October 28, 1991 when he was awarded the Folger's first annual O. B. Hardison Jr. Poetry Prize.

Brendan Galvin was cited by the 1991 judges as a “poet trained in science, a specialist in botany and ornithology, an innovator in both form and subject matter.” Galvin has been an influential teacher for 40 years whose work includes The Strength of a Named Thing, Sky and Island Light, and Place Keepers.
