On Monday, January 27, 2020 as part of the Talks and Screenings at the Folger, the Folger hosted an encore screening of Branagh Theatre Live: The Winter's Tale, a cinema broadcast from the stage of the Garrick Theatre in London. The Folger also hosted a screening when the performances was originally presented in 2016.

Shakespeareʼs timeless tragicomedy of obsession and redemption was reimagined in this new production, co-directed by Kenneth Branagh and Rob Ashford, following their triumphant staging of Macbeth in Manchester and Manhattan.

King Leontes appears to have everything: power, wealth, a loving family and friends. But sexual jealousy sets in motion a chain of events with tragic consequences. The Winter’s Tale starred a remarkable group of actors, featuring Judi Dench as Paulina, alongside Tom Bateman (Florizel), Jessie Buckley (Perdita), Hadley Fraser (Polixenes), Miranda Raison (Hermione), Michael Pennington (Antigonus), John Shrapnel (Camillo) and Kenneth Branagh as Leontes.
