On February 6th 2012 authors Dagoberto Gilb and Benjamin Percy came to Folger Theatre for an installment of the PEN/Faulkner Reading series. A resident of Austin, Gilb is the executive director of the new CentroVictoria, a center for Mexican American Literature and Culture at the University of Houston-Victoria. His most recent book is Before the End, After the Beginning, and he has previously been the recipient of both a Guggenheim Fellowship and the PEN/Hemingway Award. His previous books include The Flowers, Woodcuts of Women, Gritos, The Last Known Residence of Mickey Acuña and The Magic of Blood. His fiction and non-fiction works have appeared in a range of magazines, most recently The New Yorker, Harper’s, and Callaloo. Percy has penned two novels — Red Moon and The Wilding — as well as two books of short stories and pieces for the likes of Esquire, GQ, Men’s Journal, Outside and The Paris Review.
