The O.B. Hardison Poetry Series reading Before & After: Poets Respond to Romeo and Juliet was held on November 6, 2013 in the Folger's Elizabethan Theatre. In Before & After two local poets, Joel Dias-Porter and Paulette Beete responded to Folger Theatre's Romeo and Juliet (Folger Theatre, 2013). The original work of the poets explored themes from the play, in a unique lyrical communication between genres.

Joel Dias-Porter has taken top prizes in the National Poetry Slam and Haiku Slam Championships.

Paulette Beete

Paulette Beete is the author of two chapbooks and has received awards for her poetry and fiction.
