On Saturday June 18 and Sunday, June 19 2016, as part of the Talks and Screenings at the Folger, the Folger co-hosted a special outdoor screening series entitled Bard in the Park alongside the Capitol BID at Canal Park in Washington, DC.

The two organizations teamed up to celebrate 400 Years of Shakespeare with two of Hollywood's takes on his plays for a free weekend of outdoor films. The two films shown were The Merchant of Venice (2004) and West Side Story (1961).

Audiences were invited bring a picnic, all movies were captioned.
