The Papers of Robert Clayton, John Morris, et al. relating to English banking, Folger manuscript V.b.377, v.1-145, are a portion of a larger collection of private banking papers from the 17th century that has been dispersed over the past two hundred years. This collection was most recently held by the Fairfax family, who acquired it from G. Michelmore (bookseller), who purchased it at auction (Sotheby’s, March 26, 1929).
