This was a lecture given by Jorge Luis Borges on 23 April 1976, in the Presidential Ballroom of the Stattler-Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC. Audio and program of the lecture are held at Univerity of Virginia library archives.

Lecturer: Jorges Luis Borges was an Argentine writer who excelled in genres from poetry to essays, as well as working extensively as a translator, screenwriter, and lecturer. At the time of the 1976 Birthday Lecture, Borges was an instructor at the University of Buenos Aires and director of the Argentine National Library. Borges died in 1986.
