Deborah J. Leslie is Folger senior cataloger with primary responsibility for pre-1831 English materials and authorities. Her first day at the Folger was a snowy 6 January 1999.
Deborah has been teaching Rare Book Cataloging at the Rare Book School at the University of Virginia since 1998, and in 2013 inaugurated the Rare Book School's Advanced Rare Book Cataloging Workshop, taught at the Folger. She has also taught rare book cataloging at California Rare Book School (2006-2007) and the Australasian Rare Book Summer School (Wellington, NZ, 2007). She has been active in the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section (RBMS) since 1992, including serving as RBMS chair (2009-2010) and chair of the Bibliographic Standards Committee (2001-2007).
