“What characterizes Li-Young Lee’s poetry,” writes poet Gerald Stern, “is a certain humility, a kind of cunning, a love of plain speech…a willingness to let the sublime enter his field of concentration and take over.” He has won numerous awards including the Lannan Literary Award, the Whiting Award, The PEN Josephine Miles Award, the Guggenheim, and the I.B. Lavan Award.
