(Hamnet, LUNA) Contains Roger’s unpublished epistolary essay refuting Bownd’s Doctrine of the Sabbath with detailed commentary keyed to book and page of Bownd’s work. The letter is followed by an anonymous postscript (in the same hand as the copy) claiming that when Bownd read this letter he was immediately moved to repent his opinions, a claim for which there is no evidence. The only published response to Bownd’s work by Rogers was Faith, doctrine and religion, 1607.

(Hamnet, LUNA) This volume belonged to the Smith (variously Smithe and Smyth) family of Long Aston, Somersetshire. One of the poems in Part I is "On Mr. John Nycholls Vicar of Longashtoun who died ... December 21, 1622" (leaf 10). The brothers John, Hugh and Charles wrote their names in the book between 1674 and 1690. The Thomas and John Smith who appear in Part II may have been cousins from the Smith family of Hough, Cheshire. Warwick Castle MS.
