On January 20, 2014, the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series celebrated the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a combined program of dramatic readings of speeches, poetry, and an open-mic session. The American Poetry Museum co-sponsored the event, held at the The Haskell Center for Education and Public Programs. It featured poets Abdul Ali, Fred Joiner, and Venus Thrash, and actors Liz Mamana and Theodore Snead.
The Folger also collected donations for the Calvary Women's Services.
