Mary Karr says that her second collection of poems The Devil’s Tour is “about standing in the dark, about trying to memorize the bad news. The tour is a tour of the skull. I am thinking of Satan in Paradise Lost: ‘The mind is its own place and it can make a hell of heav’n or a heav’n of hell.’” Karr is the author of the best-selling East Texas memoir The Liar’s Club, and her most recent collection of poetry is Viper Rum.
Kerr has read for the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series on two occasions: December 12, 1997 and March 21, 2011.
