In When Notre Dame was New, the Folger Consort joined forces with the famed Norwegian vocal ensemble Trio Mediaeval to celebrate the Parisian avant-garde that flourished when High Gothic cathedrals were new and when the principles of Western music were being established by composers such as Leonin and Perotin. The great organa, conducti, and motets of the Notre Dame School wer eat the heart of theprogram, along with instrumental dances from the period. The Folger Consort presented When Notre Dame was New on January 7 and January 8, 2005 at the Washington National Cathedral.
