E. Ethelbert Miller

E. Ethelbert Miller has read for the O.B. Hardison Poetry Series several times: October 9, 1978, February 9, 1993 and OCtober 24, 1995. He also participated in the "Our Literary District: A Reading of Prose and Poetry" panel for the Folger's District of Literature on September 30, 2013.

Miller is one of the most generous and influential teachers inside and outside the classroom in the United States. His quiet, disarming, and powerfully engaging poetry is collected most recently in How We Sleep on the Nights We Don't Make Love. Other books of poetry include Buddha Weeping in Winter, Whispers, Secrets, and Promises, First Light: New and Selected Poems, and Where Are the Love Poems for Dictators? Miller has written a memoir, Fathering Words: The Making of An African-American Writer, and edited several anthologies African American poetry.
