Folger Consort performed The Merchant of Venice: Music and Poetry of Shakespeare's Play from March 7 to March 8, 2015 at the Shakespeare's Globe. Accompanying ayres by John Dowland, string music and songs by Salamone Rossi and Claudio Monteverdi, and wind pieces from the Bassano family, actors joined the Consort on stage with passages from Shakespeare's play. The Consort performed The Merchant of Venice with violins, viol, lute, theorbo, and accompanying ensemble the Gabrieli Consort & Players.
